WHAT’S CHANGING?

Public college and university students will continue receiving reduced grants.

WHY IT MATTERS?

As a student, choosing a private career college means choosing a direct path into an essential career. These colleges prepare us for real jobs in healthcare, skilled trades, and community services—fields that Ontario urgently needs workers in right now.

When financial support is reduced, it doesn’t just affect schools — it affects students who are trying to step into these critical roles and help fill workforce shortages. Access to funding makes the difference between wanting to contribute to Ontario’s workforce and actually being able to.

As students, we are calling on Ontario policymakers to ensure equal access to grant funding for those attending private career colleges. We believe our access to financial support should not depend on the type of institution we choose.

Education is a personal decision based on our career goals, learning style, and life circumstances. We deserve the same opportunity to access grants and pursue our training, regardless of where we decide to study.

Dear [MPP Name],

I am writing to express my concern about the decision to eliminate OSAP grants for students attending private career colleges, effective August 1, 2026.

I respectfully urge you to reconsider and reverse this policy. Students who choose private career colleges should have equal access to OSAP grants, just like those attending public colleges and universities. Financial support should be based on a student’s need and program of study—not the type of institution they select.

No student should be disadvantaged for making the educational choice that best aligns with their career goals and circumstances.

Sincerely, [Your Name]
